Caring for your c-section incision

If you have had a c-section, it's important to take good care of your incision to help ensure proper healing.

Here are a few tips for caring for your c-section incision:

  1. Keep the area clean: Gently wash the area around your incision with soap and water once a day. Pat the area dry with a clean towel.

  2. Protect the incision: Avoid placing anything on top of your incision, such as a seatbelt, until it is fully healed.

  3. Wear loose clothing: Avoid tight clothing that might rub against your incision or put pressure on it.

  4. Avoid heavy lifting: Avoid lifting heavy objects, such as your newborn or a car seat, until your healthcare provider gives you the go-ahead.

  5. Seek medical attention if you have any concerns: If you notice any redness, swelling, or discharge at the site of your incision, or if you have a fever, contact your healthcare provider. These could be signs of infection.

By following these tips, you can help ensure that your c-section incision heals properly.

If you have any concerns about the healing process or about caring for your incision, don't hesitate to speak with your healthcare provider.
